Wind energy is clean and environmentally friendly. There is no cost associated with raw materials and transportation. The wind is simply used to generate energy. Wind turbines are not complex machines thus do not require an operator to run. They are manufactured to process automatically. This enables them to operate in 20 – 30 years with appropriate maintenance.
Wind turbines are low maintenance. They do not exert tax surcharge upon the shoulders of tax payers like oil and natural gas due to cost effectiveness of their operation.
Hazardous emissions to the atmosphere are virtually none for wind turbines. There is no hazardous seepage to nearby rivers or water reservoirs. They can be installed in small areas. They are relatively safe and decrease dependency to fossil fuels.
Wind turbines do not melt down or emit radioactivity. They are high efficiency machines, manufactured in modular sections.
Transportation is possible for windfarms. They create employment opportunities to the surrounding people in the place of construction and manufacturing of the components.
Today’s technology of wind turbines makes it possible for them to be competitive with hydroelectric, and coal-fired powerplants. What is interesting is that the energy spent to manufacture a wind turbine can be gained in 3 months with average efficiency which is crucial for external energy dependent countries.
